This is a personal Homepage I am attaching to the Howerton Heritage Homepage. It seemed easier to do this than having two disconnected homepages. At the present, I have no idea what I will put on this page. It will link to the Howerton Heritage Website and include anything else that interest me. Just keep checking to see what I add.

PERSONAL LIFE
My name is John F. Howerton (this link will take you to a page that has my life history ) and since 30 January 1929 life has been a wonderful adventure. As a youth, I lived for fifteen years in and around Paris, Texas. More than half of those years were spent on a cotton farm where I chopped and picked a lot of cotton. My elementary education was in several small country schools. In 1944 we moved to Prescott, Arizona, where I completed High School and worked for Sam Hill Hardware. Moffit Field (1946-1947, Mountain View, California);
First Marine Division in Tiensin and Tsingtao, China (1947-1949);
Camp Pendleton (Oceanside, California, 1949-1950);
First Marine Division in Korea , including the Inchon Landing and the Chosin Reservior withdrawal (1950-1952);
Marine Supply Depot, 100 Harrison Street (San Francisco, California, 1951-1953);
Inspector-Instructor Staff, 96th Special Infantry Company, USMCR (Pueblo, Colorado, 1953-1954).
After the Marines, I attended:

PROFESSIONAL LIFE
My professional life has included serving as the pastor of four small Baptist churches (one on two occasions). After several different semesters in the dual role of pastor and a visiting instructor in History at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, in 1966 I became a full time teacher where I remained until May 1994, completing thirty years of service. Now, I spend my time doing research on the Howerton family and working at the Cathedral of the Valley, Church of God where I attend and teach an Adult \line Bible Class.
